Castledoor
Hey Everyone,
Before I go on any further, I'd like to take this sentence to say hello to everyone who reads this blog and to thank you for checking in from time to time. Since my last post, 5 years ago, a lot has changed. I now have a little recording studio and it's brought me much happiness. It's nice to have a space that is used for music and that is always available. My intention all along was to create a space for artists to come and record music. It's hard in today's economic climate to find the bucks to cover your recording budget and studios around Los Angeles are just too darn pricey. It's all wrong I tell you. I really like to be around fun and talented people and that is why I want to share with you a band that I recently have become friends with. They are called Castledoor...www.myspace.com/castledoormusic.
They live in Los Angeles and they play around town frequently. We cut one song together called Fifth Tambourine and the next day I went to see them live. First off, they all played great in the studio and the recording instantly came to life. Their live show blew me away...truly inspiring. Nate, the lead singer, has an amazing voice and performs with real energy, not fake energy, like planned, but the real stuff, like passion and love. The songs were all memorable and filled with great parts and lyrics. I was happy to have met such a great band. We went in the following week and started recording the album. In a total of 8 action packed days, we finished recording and mixing 11 songs. The master went right off to the CDR printer in New Jersey and the band left town for SXSW. Sitting on my table are 4 copies of the new Castledoor album. It's a really exciting feeling to hold the final product, sealed and ready for fresh ears.
The point I'm trying to make if I haven't already done so is...Castledoor is a great band and I strongly believe you will really enjoy their new and first ever released, full length album "Shouting At Mountains." They are all such awesome people and I had the best time working with them. If you get the chance, check out there live show.
Thank you for reading...until we meet again,
Robert
ovvero, ci vuol far conoscere questa band...I CASTELDOOR! ma chi saranno mai?? vedremo! questo è il messaggio che la band ha scritto sul myspace:We are thrilled to announce the details of our first full length album.
Considering we've been a band since 2005, this truly has been a long time coming...
which is ironic, because we made the album last month (February 2009) in about 8 days.
We recorded in our hometown of Los Angeles with our friend Robert Schwartzman.
He has a band called Rooney:
www.mypsace.com/RooneyNot only did he keep us laughing and in good spirits, we feel like Robert really helped us focus on our strengths and encouraged us to keep things simple and effective. The result is an album that captures each band members contributions in a raw fashion...not to be confused with being under produced or cheap, but rather full of life and real emotion. The album features 11 brand new songs. If you've seen us live then you might recognize two songs from our shows, "Skipping Stepping Stones" & the title track.
track listing:
1. Skipping Stepping Stones
2. Free
3. Dusty
4. Hidden Treasure
5. Fifth Tambourine
6. Bad Day In Monterey
7. Blue Eyed Soul Pt. 7
8. Shouting At Mountains
9. Hush
10. Across The Border
